MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

 

 

Squash Alberta was established in 1967 and is a registered non-profit society with the goal of promoting the development of Squash in Alberta.  Squash Alberta represents Alberta’s squash interests locally, provincially and nationally.  Squash Alberta promotes the development of officials, coaches and athletes through funded programs for all affiliated clubs and individual members. 

 

There are two squash leagues in the province, Calgary Squash League and Edmonton Squash League, all league games are included in the provincial ranking for Squash Alberta members as well as Squash Alberta’s insurance covers Squash Alberta members during league games.  A $5.00 fee is paid on behalf of every Squash Alberta member to the league they are registered with.

 

Through Squash Alberta’s mission statement, to promote and facilitate the development of the sport of squash for Albertans, Alberta has become one of the strongest centres for squash excellence in the country.

 

Insurance:

Squash Alberta carries general liability insurance and accident insurance for all of Squash Alberta’s affiliated clubs and leagues, individual members, officers, directors, coaches, officials and employees.  To be eligible for insurance affiliated clubs and leagues, individual members, officers, directors, coaches, officials and employees shall be participating in activities sanctioned by Squash Alberta. 

·          General Liability:  $5,000,000

·          Accident Insurance includes:      loss of life, permanent loss/dismemberment, eyeglasses/contact lenses (resulting from injury), emergency transportation, blanket dental, and      rehabilitation.

 

Benefits of Individual Membership:  Squash Alberta provides provincial rankings, a membership handbook, quarterly newsletter, website, officiating clinics, coaching clinics, skill development clinics and junior development programs for its members.  Squash Alberta currently funds over 100 of its members who receive funding to attend the following events; Alberta Winter Games, Canada Winter Games, Canadian Junior and Senior Championships, Canadian Teams Championships, University Championships and Western Master Championships.  Squash Alberta currently funds 16 athletes on the Alberta Junior Provincial Team, this funding helps to support year round training and participation at major events.

            Tournaments:  Squash Alberta members receive a $10.00 discount on all sanctioned      tournament entry fees.  The Alberta Junior Closed is a free tournament for all Junior members of Squash Alberta.  Squash Alberta covers all the cost of this event.        

            Ranking System:  Squash Alberta keeps an updated provincial ranking system for all its             members.

 

Benefits of Affiliated Club Membership:   Provides an inexpensive way of enhancing the “Squash experience” for the players at the club.  As a member of an affiliated club, your players are entitled to become individual members of Squash Alberta for $10 less than the fee charged to members at unaffiliated clubs. 

Clinics:     Squash Alberta offers all affiliated clubs a free rules clinic.  This is a great opportunity for players to refresh themselves with the rules of squash.    All clinics are instructed by certified Provincial Examiners.

Tournaments:   Affiliated clubs can hold a sanctioned tournament and bid for the privilege of holding recognized provincial and national championships.    Squash Alberta provides support to all sanctioned tournaments through the development a yearly tournament poster, mailing affiliated clubs tournament entry forms and posters to clubs, listing the sanctioned tournament on Squash Alberta’s website and posting entry forms on the website.

·          Sanctioned Tournament Packages include:  scorepads, drawsheets and one dozen            Dunlop squash balls.

·          Fixture Events Tournament Packages include: scorepads, drawsheets and one dozen Dunlop squash balls for every 25 participants.  Squash Alberta pays the following in prize money:

                              Calgary and Edmonton Open                                     $1,000 each event

                              Alberta Open                                                               $2,000

                              Alberta Closed (Provincial Championships)               $2,000

 

The Alberta Junior Closed is a free tournament for all Junior members of Squash Alberta.  Squash Alberta covers all the cost of the event.                           

                 

Dunlop Squash Balls:  Each affiliated club receives one dozen balls for each paid court per year.

Ranking System:  Squash Alberta keeps an updated provincial ranking system for all its members.
